About UsWeBook Apparel is the genesis of a fated book club meeting during the summer of 2008. We were talking about the Twilight series and anticipating the release of the fourth book as well as the movie production. Micha, is the true fangirl of the bunch and a little obsessed with useless information, while Joslynn and Jess are all too happy to enable her, so the conversation progressed. We wanted something cute to wear to the book parties. A quick Google session later and we were convinced we could come up with something better. But how? Yes, we could design it and come up with smart messages, but the logistics were overwhelming. "I have a screen press in my garage," Jess chirped. Who in the hell has a screen press in their garage? JESS does!! Someone had a notebook and started scribbling down ideas. A two hour book club meeting turned into a four hour design and business plan meeting. We didn't have the most original idea but we knew we could be smarter with our messages and also out-design anyone else in the game.
We do this together, as friends, because we share a common interest. We do what makes us laugh. We design our graphics cleanly and with an artistic edge that is missing in the current markets. We create what we know will connect to people who love the books that we reference as much as we do. We insist on innuendo and smarts as opposed to the obvious. And we do all of this because it's what we're passionate about. Good books, good friends and a good laugh… what more could you want? We still have our book club meetings, but our group has grown from the original three to more than 10, and we still spend a better part of our discussions talking about our first love… Twilight. With more than 8 of us being true Twilighters, we've discovered that no matter what the topic and no matter the setting, almost every conversation leads back to Twilight.
We're kinda partial to the vampires around here, so you'll have a lot of vamp-tastic choices, but we're also looking forward to introducing shirts that reference other great books and genres as well. It's important to us to preserve the quality and the unique nature of our designs so we take our time in the development process. Check out the blog often and see what we're up to.
"Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life." ~Mark Twain
